Valle 2008
2008 was our first trip to Valle de bravo Mexico. Valle as usual lived up to its reputation as one of the most consistent places in the world. We had perfect flying everyday and everyone logged personal bests in some catogary or the other. We were a group of 8 this year and from what I was told it wasunforgettable for each and everyone.
My trips to Valle are always so memorable for a few reasons, the main reason is just simply the flying, but the town of Valle is probably one of the most beautifull colonial towns in Mexico.
There are wonderfull restuarants and from what I am told a heap of non flying activities (maybe one day it will not be flyable to try some of them).
I have been going to Valle for many years now and always fly the competitions out there, so my expierience of the area and conditions are vast. But I have always been reluctant to take beginner pilots out there because it can be very strong conditions.
This year my worries was put to rest and I realized that with good instruction and by picking your times to suit your skill level, everyone can have a safe and proggresive learning and flying expierience.
I will try to get one of this years members to write a first hand account of there expierience.
This truly is a trip that I will highly recommend.

Join
Adventure Paragliding for our annual Mexico trip, January
28 - February 4, or February 4 - 11, 2007. This year we
will again be returning to Yelapa, on the Pacific coast
about 30 minutes south of Puerto Vallarta.
Yelapa is a quaint little fishing village set
in a tropical jungle with mountains and beaches. There are
two flying sites; the afternoon site being the most consistent.
Named Tapita (meaning "small cover"), this site
is a combination of ridge and thermal lift, therefore flights
of a few hours are not uncommon. This site is only about
a 25 minute hike up and you are rewarded by 360 degree views
of mountains, beaches, and Yelapa.
Other
than flying, Yelapa offers numerous activities including
fishing, water skiing, sea kayaking, jungle treks and beautiful
beaches to name but a few, so it goes without saying that
the non flying partners will be very happy while we satisfy
our flying needs.
Accommodation is in the only beach front hotel
with a pool overlooking the ocean, and a cantina (bar) sitting
on the beach. Each individual palapa (room) boasts its own
unique decor and stunning ocean view.
Price:
$1400.00 per person sharing.
Prices include hotel (per person, share), transportation
to and from airport, rides up to morning site, local club
fees and guide fees. Airfare, food, drink and leisure activities
are extra.
For private room add $300.00
Non flying partners: $600.00

What Pine Said About the 2005 Yelapa Trip:
This year's Mexico trip can be summed up in one
word "UNBELIEVABLE". All six of us came back
tanned, relaxed, more experienced, extremely happy, while
adding at least six hours to our log books.
After a quick 3 hour flight from
Denver, the tranquility of Mexico welcomed us in Puerto
Vallarta. From there, we transferred to a water taxi for
a 45 minute ride to Yelapha, a small fishing village accessible
only by boat. We found Yelapa to be literally a flying
paradise, very consistent weather, beautiful scenery,
and wonderful people.
Our hotel was conveniently located
right on the beach, only a few steps away from the landing
zone.
A typical day consisted of meeting
for breakfast, strolling through town to meet up with
our drivers Aldo and Orlando, and then flying to our heart's
content. Aldo being one of the local Tandem pilots, drove
the paragliding truck and proved to be extremely helpful
and nice. Orlando, his brother, was just learning to fly
and we found him to be just as helpful.
After
Twenty minutes you arrive at Yelapa Tapa, a 2100 foot
thermal site overlooking the bay. We discovered that Yelapha
Tapa is a really wonderful site for introducing newer
pilots to thermalling. Everyone's thermalling skills improved
daily and by the end of the week, pilots found they could
stay aloft for over 30 minutes, some even climbing up
above launch.
After landing on the beach, we
would have a leisurely lunch and then head to Tapita.
This site being roughly 600 feet above the beach was reached
by a 25 minute hike and boasted 360 degree views of the
mountains, coastline, and town. The flying at Tapita is
primarily consistent ridge lift, making flights of two
hours or more the rule rather than the exception.
There are very few things that
improves flying skills like good old air time. For novice
pilots in the mountains, the long, consistent flights
needed to attain this time are elusive and few. Yelapa
can be viewed as a springboard, catapulting new pilots
over mental and physical obstacles that only time in the
air achieves .
When
I left Denver with my 4 novice pilots, they had a combined
airtime of around 15 hours. As a group we flew almost
40 hours all together. Jack, my newest pilot, had 3 flights
total before the trip. While he took a day and a half
off, he still left Yelapa with about 7 hours of quality
airtime.
Terrie, having only about 9 hours
in 89 flights, almost doubled his time in the air during
the week.
John, flying everyday, really
took advantage of the consistent conditions to improve
his skills on every level.
Shannon, my wife, went with the
intention of flying once or twice but ended up flying
almost everyday.
Lisa, Jack's wife, was the non
pilot but found her experience of Yelapa to be just as
fulfilling, returning home refreshed and revitalized.
Of all the flying trips I've
been on, this was one of my favorites. My previous memories
of flying trips includes a lot of driving and sitting
around. Yelapa has none of that. In order to do anything
other than flying you have to force yourself to take time
off. And the times we did sit around was in a hammock
with a pina colada in one hand.
If you are a P2 pilot, wishing
to build some air time and improve your skills in a safe
environment, then Yelapa is the trip for you. The setting
is simply stunning, and plenty of activities abound to
amuse non-flying companions. We are already planning next
year's trip, so come join us for a spectacular, unique
flying experience!
